Picture This is designed to inspire children to read, write and draw.

In a school visit, author and illustrator Dara Goldman outlines the steps of making a picture book. She shares lessons learned from her own experience, describing how she came to write some of her own popular stories for children. And she demonstrates the importance of revision and research in the writing of the manuscript as well as in the development of the artwork.

Children can follow the basics of publishing from start to finish – from thumbnail sketches to finished paintings. With a Power Point slide show
Dara provides a behind-the-scenes tour of her studio. And with a Photoshop demonstration, she shows how she uses the computer in her work.

Each presentation is 45 – 50 minutes long with time included for questions.
