Picture This is designed to inspire students of all ages to read, write and draw.

In a school visit, author and illustrator Dara Goldman outlines the steps of making a picture book. She shares lessons learned from her own experience, describing how she came to write some of her own popular stories for children. And she demonstrates the importance of revision and research in the writing of the manuscript as well as in the development of the artwork.

Students can follow the basics of publishing from start to finish – from thumbnail sketches, to dummy books, to finished paintings. Dara's presentation can be shared with several classes at one time, or it can travel from classroom to classroom for a more personal experience.

The highlight of Picture This is a drawing game which gets rave reviews from children of all ages: Dara collaborates with her audience to draw some very unique pictures. The results are a gift to the school – a record of a truly fresh approach to inspiring young authors and artists.

Each presentation is 45 – 50 minutes long with time included for questions.
